Devo Hosts a cat "Listening Party"
Re: Devo Hosts a cat "Listening Party"
It's amazing what the fumes from a tire factory can do to one's brain, even after all this time.
Re: Devo Hosts a cat "Listening Party"
Wow, that was stupid.

Hey, we're talking Devo here. What would you expect?

Nah, I didn't mean Devo was dumb....just that video and the lady in it.
Re: Devo Hosts a cat "Listening Party"
Not that dumb is necessarily a bad thing, either. It has served Devo and other novelty bands very well through the years.

Re: Devo Hosts a cat "Listening Party"
Devo was on Letterman the other night, promoting their first release in 20 some years, Letterman indicated.
The song they played was mostly all about their keyboard sound -- very little guitar if I recall. Yes, they were wearing the same outfits, as in the picture at the beginning of this thread.
Their new song did not do anything for me -- but the way I look at it, its five otherwise-unemployable guys,
getting some work in their senior years ---- and Devo's new record, tour, costume sewing, etc. is probably putting more people to work than the claims of some other folks, who allege they have created or saved so many jobs ...

Now don't take me as a Devo critic ---- I admit to owning the "Best of Devo" CD -- although I always thought the title was a bit of an oxymoron !!!

mothersbaugh made a fortune doing the "rugrats" soundtracks. these strange corn fed genius types make good money behind the scenes in computer programming, studio production, computer game soundtrack themes. i respect the fact that you don't see them physically...but they are "there" and they are "watching" !

Big DeVo fan here. Proud of it. Awesome body of work.
I haven't heard the new stuff yet but I do own an energy dome (flower pot hat).
First 4 albums are legendary.
I will not be convinced otherwise.

Balloo went to the party. He said it was fun,met some nice people. He said the new album was good but he wished it was released on vinyl LP because "those are much more comfortable to sit on".

I can definitely understand why they are an acquired taste. However, I consider"Are We Not Men?" album brilliant in a rather eccentric way. "Girl U Want" and "Freedom of Choice" are all-time classics.8mileshigher wrote: Now don't take me as a Devo critic ---- I admit to owning the "Best of Devo" CD -- although I always thought the title was a bit of an oxymoron !!!
Interesting that the Fox news page linked above describes Devo as a four-piece band, whilst publishing a pic of the five of them....
