Well there is obviously something interfering with it while it is on the floor, or the act of moving it to a chair somehow changed the consitions in the amp due to vibration to where now it doesn't hum. See if it does it again, and if so, try to eliminate things one by one as a possible cause. Unplug the instrument so you are just dealing with the amp. Then if still humming, take a look in the back at the tubes while the amp is running to see if any of them look funny....blue glow inside the tube, orange or red plates inside the tube, etc. Don't touch them though as they will be hot! Make sure all tubes are all the way in their sockets too. If it still hums after that, then see if there are any lights hooked up to rheostats, or neon or flourescant bulbs around.
