Check 1..2....this thing on?
Hi everyone, new member here. Just kicking the tires and browsing the forums. I am a late blooming guitar player - well I hope to be one some day at least. I am 41 and have always loved music, but have just started taking lessons last month on an acoustic. I have always loved ricks and my brother-in-law has quite a few in his collection and pushed me here towards the forums. I am hoping to get a 330 when I am ready for an electric and I am struggling to find meaningful things to contribute to the forums, being a newbie and all!
Anyway, just saying hi, and I am sure I'll be doing more lurking than contributing as I gain knowledge and learn my way around the frets.

Ditto what Scott said. . .
Just buy the 330; it will motivate you to developing a "ready for an electric" level of playing, not that it's required- I think I knew about three or four chords, if that, when I bought my first Rick. Once I had the guitar, I learned a lot more!

Well, I am getting beginning music theory down, so maybe it's time to take the plunge! As long as I keep the volume low enough, I shouldn't disturb the household too much when playing electric. I have noticed the volume of the TV upstairs gets louder when practicing acoustic - funny coincidence!

Yeah; barre chords, demolished ninths, a lot of open chords, and then stuff like the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, and R.E.M., all of whom just seemed to make heir own variations of chords up according to what they thought sounded good.elreydlp wrote:Ah! You discovered barre chords huh.

'Course, I gotta work on that "sounded good" part...paologregorio wrote:Yeah; barre chords, demolished ninths, a lot of open chords, and then stuff like the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, and R.E.M., all of whom just seemed to make heir own variations of chords up according to what they thought sounded good.elreydlp wrote:Ah! I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Welcome to the forum Clark. It takes alot of practice just to be able to play lousy. After 36 years of playing, I aspire to some day be a decent bassist!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Welcome!
In time you may see there is an inverse relationship between your ability on the guitar and the volume of the TV in the other room!
Is your bro-n-law a forumite too?
