John Hall does, I'm sure of that...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

What Ben is trying to say is that RIC does not reveal production numbers or any other private business information. They don't have to, as the company is privately owned and there are no stockholders to whom they must report. I would imagine the IRS has numbers, but that's also none of our business. :)

But I think it is safe to guess that RIC's yearly output is in the thousands of instruments.

Thanks for your post Ben. I believe that that the curious among our membership received the message that you delivered loud and clear. No further interpretation is necessary.

y'know, you could always do like the jellybean in a jar game.. guess how many Rickenbackers are produced that year and if you're within 10 of the actual number (which would never have to be revealed) you win a Rickenbacker T-Shirt.. and bragging rights that you have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much time on your hands if your life's concerns are how many instruments are made and your last name ISN'T Hall

probably a little more than one and a little less than a million.... As long a Ric is a private company that doesn't have to be spoken to... and if I were Mr Hall I doubt would promote that number or just about any other that isn't required to be announced. It's just not good business.

this is how you can find out what they produce:

ask for the length of the backlog.
Order a guitar from them.
Ask the day after that for the length of the backlog.
If it lenghtened with half a day, they only make 2 guitars a day

We can do all sorts of guesstimates, but frankly - to what end?
The bottom line:
Workers are getting paid.
JH has a really nice view from his house ;)
Instruments are sold for a fair price.
Quality is top notch
Backlog is a ***** but as a customer I rather Rickenbacker have a long backlog as long as they maintain their fair price and the build quality.

On a more personal note:
As a Rickenbacker enthusiast I can understand why do we feel that we have to know everything about the company. But we also have to remember that Rickenbacker is a PRIVATE company, think of it as the same kind of business like your friend's plumbing company or your cousins' chiropractic clinic, would you dare asking them what is their "monthly yearly selling volume"? of course not. So why would you ask the Hall family such a question?

EDIT: haha! I just got censored by the same censoring system I implemented myself, talk about shooting one's own leg ;)
So long and thanks for all the fish!
