Looking to possibly sell my '65 615

Post by deano »

I bought my '65 Fireglow 615 cresting wave new in either 1965 or '66. The guitar is in excellent condition with no scratches and only finish wear on the back of the neck. The only change made to it was that the original vibrato tailpiece is now an "R" type. It also has the original hard guitar case. It has never been used for anything other than in a home environment or a guitar lesson room. If there is anyone out there who might be able to give me an idea what the guitar might be worth and how to go about putting it up for sale as far as possibly using Craig's List or E-Bay, I would really appreciate your input.

Welcome Dean,

A one owner mid 60's guitar. Sounds hopefully just what many here might want. I know if I played 6 strings I would.
Hopefully someone here can work with you to keep this in the forum.

Hi Dean feel free to call me Brian. Winston is actually the name of my extremely faithful little dog. :D

A member here on RRF is considering buying the guitar for $1400. I wanted to get some advice on if the price sounds fair. The guitar ( 1965 615 ) is in near mint condition, but has had the original vibrato tailpiece replaced by the "R" style. So, would it make more since to have a Ric vibrato put back on it, and sell it later? I would appreciate your input. Thanks deano

I looked up your guitar on the Register using the serial no. you provided. The chart shows one comparable sale at $2700+. If someone asked me what a '65 Fireglo 610/5 in near-mint condition with correct/original case was worth, I would say at least $2000. Good '60s examples with no issues tend to hold their value even in tough markets.

If you have the original Accent tailpiece, great, that's likely a plus.

Photos would help. PM me if you are having trouble uploading them.

Thanks for your input. I have decided to keep the guitar, and try to find an original style vibrato tailpiece to put back on it. I have had the guitar for about 45 years, so it has kind of grown on me.
