There was never a Rickenbacker that was given a "devil" model designation. Babür gave his 4003 in Red that name for the red color with black trim. The color was Red, designated as RED.

There was limited run of a red 4003S with the fingerboard painted red and it was called the 4003 Redneck.

Redneck may have originated as a term for Presbyterians in Fayetteville, NC (my home town! ). I've also heard it originated as a term for union members of either coal mines or the rail road. You'd think somebody would know where it came from.
