New from Gibson

Post by elreydlp »

Following up the "smashing" success of the recently unveiled, high tech "Firebird X" guitar, Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz announced that he had commissioned the Gibson Custom Shop to create a new model aimed at the "Roots" market. "I think they NAILED it", he was quoted as saying after seeing the guitar in action at an invitation-only debut show.
Suggested Retail Price is said to be in the $10,000.00 range and the estimated Street price should be about $39.95.

Looks really fun. How would you tune a three string guitar?

Aside, it almost looks like Squire playing bass.

You would need to use the 'crapville' tuning method.
I think Rickenbacker used it on the 3 string Susanah Hoffs prototype in the 1950's.

I might be interested in one if it comes in a righty-version with a non-reverse headstock ...

Seriously, I had never heard of Mac Arnold before seeing this discussion - thanks to the OP for posting this!

I googled Mac Arnold and I found out that he has had quite a career as a bass player backing Muddy Waters, working on Soul Train, and more http://www.answers.com/topic/mac-arnold; not mentioned on that site is the fact that he also worked on Jerry Ford's 1976 Presidential campaign! He also admires Jimmy Carter's Habitat for Humanity project building homes in Tijuana, so don't hold his Jerry Ford gig against him. His first oil-can guitar was built by his older brother when they were kids on a farm in South Carolina. Good stuff!

Mr. dlp,
I see you are having fun with Gibson in this forum as well as Reverend. Funny stuff friend...
Here's another Gibson offering...I think they actually are doing a few things right! I wouldn't mind owning one of these...

Before this one gets out of hand, I'm going to lock it down.

While threads poking fun of other companies might be considered as entrainment to some of us, other's obviously take offense.
