Geddy's double necks...which songs...what guitar?

Post by loverickbass »

Hello everbody,

Was wondering if anyone knows which songs Ged played the double necks on and which guitar he used on each song. I know P.T.B and Xan, any others? I think he played the black one with the 12 string on Xan.

I believe he played the 6 string / bass on A Passage to Bangkok, playing the guitar during Alex's solo. That's the last I saw of it, anyway. You can hear it clearly on Exit Stage Left.

I saw them on the R30 tour a month ago - and Alex Lifeson pulled out the old double-neck Gibson to play Xanadu. It was awesome, but he didn't do the cool 'swell solo' at the beginning. Geddy played his J-bass the entire night. No Rics in sight.

Today, they play the arrangement that is on the original studio version, with Geddy's guitar part sampled and triggered.....I thought it was cool to hear 'Xanadu' that way with Geddy playing bass instead of guitar.

Way 'back in the day' as they say (before digital sampling), Geddy used the Rickenbacker double-neck on 'Xanadu' and 'Passage to Bangkok'. I have seen Rush MANY times and I've never seen Geddy perform with the 4080/6 outside of posing with it in the tour programmes. It's always been the Jetglo 4080/12 on stage.
