Re: "The cap"
I have nothing to add other than I still have the cap in place in my 480 and really like the sound it produces.
Re: "The cap"
I can see that on the new adjustible pole piece neck pickup, as it has good jangle as well as drive. But I'm not so sure it would just strangle a toaster.cassius987 wrote:Yes, that's exactly how it should work. 0.002 uF will isolate and confine the treble pickup's signal even more, letting the neck pickup take over even more of the midrange.heinpete wrote:The cap in (actually it is .002uF, but I just rely on Paul) I have the bridge-PU full on and blend the neck-PU in as much as I need deep bass tone. This way it has more bite and growl, than without the cap.
Re: "The cap"
Thanks, good sighting John. Should the eyelet go to "a" or "b"? I guess "a"? It probably doesn't matter, but "a" is the nearestjohnallg wrote: Philip, it seems you do not have a .0047uF cap. Also, the eyelet on the toaster needs to be on the nearest corner screw/nut, not captured between the coil and aluminum base plate.

so that the cable exits at the round spared hole of the alu base plate.

Philip, don’t let yourself get confused by these guys. Too much Johnny Walker maybejohnallg wrote:Peter is sharper than me.heinpete wrote:...wherever, in any case you have to change the orientation of the alu base plate

He is right, the aluminum base plate needs to rotate 180 degrees then the eyelet goes to the nearest screw, A, as Ken already posted.
Obviously the aluminium bass plate can’t be rotated, as you will have discovered by now if you’ve tried.
Btw: The eyelet, it’s for grounding the pickup metal covering, and can be connected wherever you find most convenient as long as it is in good contact with covering.
