Ric Fretless I want one

Post by 08 Ric 4003 »

I have a 2008 JG 4003 with Sergio Silva pups and the bass pup has been moved to the 1/2 inch spacing. I play roundwound Dean Markley 45 - 100's on it. It was like that when I bought it. It is my first Ric and it is the shiznizzel. Can't swear on the forum. Now I want a fretless job. I just looked on ebay and there is a Ric 5 string copy and only one other for 2.5k or so. Out of my price range. I just sold a Fender Tele Highway One and am trying to sell a Fender American HH Strat to get a fretless bass. I really want a Ric, and if I can't find something in my price range, I am also toying with the idea of buying a Warmoth neck and body and making my own. I also want a Gibson SG. I had one back the day and sold it. Also had a sweet 75 or so Tele and sold it. Ah to be young and stupid again. What are your thoughts. Most fretless I have seen have rosewood necks. I have a Fender Jazz with a maple neck and love it. Which is better for a fretless or am I opening a can of worms for a huge debate? What to do?
