There's nothing like a RIC/12 all by itself or recorded well, but to the line 6's credit, I bet on stage you wouldn't be able to really tell at all. Especially since you could adjust your settings and get even closer to the correct sound you wanted. Technology is amazing! I would love to hear the same samples where you adjust the non-RICs to try to make them indistinguishable, not by effects so much as by using tone/volume pots and EQ on the guitar and amp rather than the "everything being equal" comparison.

Pleasantly surprised to see I guessed correctly on all counts since I've never been around any of the listed guitars in person (unless my memory is awful and Scott Pope's FG is in fact a 360/12). The Ric and the Fender both sound awesome; there is "something" about the Ric that made it stick out to me but the Fender also has some of those nice qualities and more mids to boot (to my ear), which gave me the idea that it was a Fender. Really all three sound great in John's capable hands.

If your ears are attuned to it, you'll still hear the octave string being hit first on the non-Ricks, no matter how much you adjust the controls.

I have two of those. .. .

#1-Fender 12-I can hear the harmony strings being plucked first-sounds very similar to my Vox 12
#2-Rick 12-unmistakable sound of the lower strings being hit before, and predominating over, the harmony strings
#3-Variax-I can hear a digital "swirling" sound of processing to achieve the effect on the higher "harmony" strings

Full fumble finger disclosure; I accidentally voted for #1 as the Rick; I was attempting to reply sound clip #1 but wasn't playing close enough eattentino and voted for # 1 instead. Oops.
