I love mid '70s 4001s! And Burgundy is a great color! Welcome to the RRF!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I don't think he'll fall for it though. :D

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Since the bass was a fake it's now on its way to Scott (we split the postage costs), I really wish it had been an authentic one..

or not :D

I've had this bass for almost a week now and one thing is certain - it's a keeper.

On saturday I'm getting a new amp (sound city 120 w. mesa boogie 4x10) and I can't wait to plug it in.. I wish I could play all weekend long but unfortunatly I have an exam on monday.. ugh.

A newbe here:
I own an original 4003 jetglo.
A few weeks ago i bought a 4001 copy (I know....shame on me)
I can't find anything on the brand "Custom".
That's what it says on the headstock.
The neck is a bolt-on.
The previous owner thought it was built in 1975.
The neckplate says: made in Japan.
Is here anybody who can tell me more about this brand? :?:

Paul, welcome aboard. We have a resident faker expert here but I haven't seen him post in a long time - Jon Price username bassassin. You might try PMing him. We also have a forum for fakers - HUH! I was going to provide a link to it but I don't see it anymore....

Late to the game here but, I beg to differ with the replaced guard consenses....Welcome aboard....I believe that is the original pickguard...compare it to my all original 76 guard below and the spacing looks the same to me, although the angle of your pic is different.... Mine has a crack on the neck pup area...a common problem with people trying to adjust the pup just a little too much....Also...you can go to a stationary or big box store and buy a pack of silver stick on letters and cut out a little circle to fill in the missing one on the knob! :D ....Cheers...dminer

Welcome, Aran! I echo the others' sentiments: that is a nice bass! :)

But, I think you have to have 30 posts before you can access it, like other parts of the market place section...
