So I was looking at this awesome 4080 in glossy Walnut and thinking... If Autumnglo is matte Walnut, as was always the claim, then if an AG Ric is given a glossy clearcoat, it should look exactly like that? IMHO, AG looks so dull while WAL looks fantastic (especially with black binding and pickguard).

BTW the serial # is WL... how appropriate.

In the 50's AutumnGlo was a glossy finish, and was discontinued sometime thereafter. When they brought it back, it became a matte finish. Then at some point they added a glossy version, and both were being sprayed concurrently so this new glossy finish was dubbed Walnut. The color of AutumnGlo/Walnut can vary greatly depending on the year it was applied. My 1980 480 which is Walnut is darker and more subdued than that double-neck example, for instance.

That's accurate to the information I have, anyone who has more specific info can correct me.

That means it's Walnut. AutumnGlo & Walnut are the same color, just one is gloss and one is matte.

Not sure.

I think you'd see solid brown 430's in the mid 70's that were called Walnut. I've always considered this one of those rare  gray areas of Rickenowledge.

Walnut.
Since "glo" means glossy, a matte Autumnglo is a oxy-moron IMO.

The overall Walnut didn't have a different name as far as I can tell. It was just Walnut that wasn't burst:

Oh my... That 4080 is simply stunning.

What is the consensus, fellow forumites? In your opinion, is the asking price fair, or is it priced higher/lower than it should be?

Those pic's are fantastic, this is proper relic worn look, no worn through paint against white beading ( which I think looks terrible on an old Ric) just age and use with care.

I think it's low in price, I would though, as I have one, but just going on other Ric's and their prices being asked at present.

Anyway, already discussed last month, viewtopic.php?f=68&t=403151&start=0
