how cool! i have gotten some jack bruce-like tones out of the vt pedal by fully cranking the drive control,but i bet the fuzz tone is ace!

The Tweak Fuzz is basically like a fuzzface with a 6 way rotary switch that changes the tone and character somewhat. The biggest gripe about it is that unity gain is at 3:00 or so, and it's not very loud to boost the signal enough over the dry to be of real use as a solo or boost type effect. Here is a really super easy mod to correct that, requires no new parts, and the pcb is clearly labeled. It probably will take you longer to take the pedal apart than do the mod to it.

Remove R4 and discard it-no longer needed, carefully remove R5 and put it where R4 was, and put a jumper wire where R5 was. Shazam! Unity gain has gone from 3:00 on the volume control to 10:00, giving you massive increased output to really kick the amp in the face(drive the preamp tubes and get more compression). Bass and guitar players alike will dig what the increased volume on tap will do to the pedals useability, and versatility.

For those killer 60s fuzz sounds, set your amp clean and add reverb to taste, for the 70s type stuff, a slight to moderately distorted amp will be a better platform. The pedal does clean up with the instruments volume knob, but it really depends on the amps setting as to how good that will sound.

True bypass, heavy duty metal box, and a customizable tone make this a real no brainer for 40 bucks in my book,

Tempting. . . haven't had a chance to try out the two you dropped in my lap yet, Mike. Will do this weekend.

Before anyone rolls their eyes, I still have space in my pedal board, and only have three OD units currently installed, which puts me in the bush league compared to Snowman; whilst hunting about his pedalboard for a chorus or something at the minijam last week, I think I probably stepped on about 5 or 6 OD pedals of one form or another. . . .

One of the best features of the BBM π is the switch that allows the direct signal to be heard, then you can adjust the distortion to taste underneath it, making it kind of like a Brassmaster. I have only briefly tried it with my 330 but it sounds promising for that, too.

I like using a regular old Big Muff on bass when I want to get warm and fuzzy. I think that's orginally the attraction, it was a guitar distortion that preserved low end.

Hey Jeff, very cool! I have one too but I actually found myself using it more for guitar! For leads, it has a terrific warmth to it that I haven't found in any other fuzz pedals.

I have really been slacking on putting together a dedicated bass pedalboard but I think this is the year. TU-2/EBS Comp/Bass Big Muff. What more do ya need?

A nice noise gate. For bass gigs all I take is my Boss NS-2 and CS-3. And cables to connect them. And the bass.
