New gear from Fender.

The "Select" series, otherwise known to me as "Shecter doppelgangers"

For all you Johnny Marr fans, the new Johnny Marr Jaguar:

Modern Player Telecaster Bass:

Still see no Electric XII or '65 Bandmaster reissues! :( :| :P

The Tele bass looks interesting. I think that I would prefer Jazz bass pickups on it, but I reserve final judgement until I get to play one at my local Fender dealer. :D

I had a couple of real 1972 Tele Basses back in the day, I put a Rick hi-gain in the bridge position, along with a BA II bridge. Oh yeah, the first one did time in a band saw to reshape the body a bit.

LOVE the Marr Jag!

Jake, if you want a Bandmaster there are a ton of original ones on my local Craigslist at any given time for very cheap (and that's WITH cab). Let me know. Not sure why they would bother making a reissue when nobody seems to want the original ones either!

JB, I might have to take ya up on it! My tuition for my final semester at the community college is due next Monday, I believe, and I've got leads on a couple of full-time jobs, so I'll have more money (and my broken-carcass Ric will be sent to Larry, too). Of course, the Deluxe is keeping me satisfied at the moment (gave my ears that ringing whine earlier today at 3 with a pedal), but when I'm ready, I'll PM you.

Nuts! That Jag is giving me GAS. Although in reality I can't imagine spending > $2k on a signature model guitar, no matter how nice.

Johnny's promo video is also interesting and worth watching.

Love me a Fender Bandmaster reverb with a Super Reverb output transfomer installed to bump it up a hair. You get killer reverb, tremolo, and tube breakup before ear shattering levels. Plenty of old ones around and because they aren't popular, they are still fairly reasonable. Ive seen them recently as low as 550 bucks, which is pretty cool for an all tube, 2 preamp head with onboard reverb and tremolo.

Sure wish I had one again

Not sure I get the "Schecter Doppleganger" reference...those all seem to be pretty classic Fender designs.

The Fender Select Carved Koa Top caught my eye...I could see that coming home very easily!

Anyone know what the price point will be?

Jake, FYI, Fender RI'd the Electric XII a couple years back via Fender Japan...not my cuppa (can't past that failed-viagra headstock), but you can probably find them on the used or NOS markets. In general, Fender Japan products rock in terms of quality.

Not so new, but I have been bitten by the Blacktop Tele bug. I would be interested in your comments.

Those Telecaster basses have always annoyed me, it just looks like a Pbass. This is what a Tele bass should look like.

Peter, I had some students with those very same Blacktop Teles. Very nice guitars. I seem to recall the pickups being a little hot and they are definitely heavy.
