...they announced a new model at NAMM and it never appeared in stores?

I got an official spec sheet of Gibson Ultratone here, announced winter NAMM 2008 - two Steel P-90s on a kind of german carve LP

There have been a few instances with Rickenbacker; the "anniversary" lap steel from about 10 years ago, and of course the yearly Jazz-Bo "teaser".

because that steel probably would have been both cheap and cool. Ten years ago anyway. I wonder wha' happened there.
