Skeletonwitch (Rick bass)

Been listening to these guys quite a bit lately. I find they are one of the better newer metal bands out there. The bassist uses Ric basses pretty extensively live and he's quite good. In the studio I believe he also uses a Geddy Lee jazz and a P bass.

So are there any others that know/like these guys? I know it's not exactly what most people listen to around here

I'm quite aware of them. Five years ago, they were playing in Indianapolis every two months it seemed. They had a different bass player then, but he also had a jetglo Rick bass (with chrome pickguard) and a Thin Lizzy logo tattoo. (Phil Lynott was the man!) They were playing with a few local metal and punk bands (The Gates of Slumber, Apostle of Solitude, Phoenix Bodies, Demiricous, etc..) in other people's living rooms... those were great times. I even taped a few of those shows. Now one of our own from the scene, Dustin Boltjes, plays drums for them now. The current lineup did an awesome set at Dudefest last summer and a couple of the guys (besides Dustin) remembered me from some of their early Indy shows.

We now return to your regularly scheduled Peter Buck worship service.

that's awesome man. I wish they would come to my neck of the woods so I could catch them live. Looks like it would be an awesome time from the vids I've seen online.
