Show me your Laredo!

Post by henny »

I'd like to see an FG 4004L in particular.

Rather than trawl that gargantuan 'Show Your Ric' thread, slap a few of your own on here. It may sway me/put me off!

What do they sound like? How do they feel? How do they play?

They look very sleek, stylish, sporty things... man, I want one.

I had one earlier this spring and loved it! Only thing is , I had to part with it to finance a Shadow....which I love even more! ;^)

OK - Compare it to a 4001S-v63.

That thread should be it's own forum.

1st BIG difference is the weight! The 4 is MUCH lighter than the V63!! The 4 seemed to have a much deeper "growl" than the V63, but I never put flats on the 4, so it's not a good comparison...
I recall the neck of the 4 being just a tad narrower than the V63....same body contouring as the V63...
I know it FELT better to play while standing than the V63 because it was lighter....

Hey, wait a minute! Why on Earth did I ever get RID of the 4004?? Oh yeah, to get a Shadow...which I like better than either of 'em!! Image

Yes, your fixation regarding Shadows - purely aesthetic, right?

To my understanding they play, sound and feel 4003, correct?

Here's mine, and I love it. A great alternative to the classic 4001/4003.

Yummy!
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Mark,
The 4004L was probably the most "comfortable" bass I've played, but the neck on the Shadow is as close to a 60's RIC as I've seen on a "newer" bass....

Other than the neck, it IS mostly aesthetic....and VERY cool.... ;^)

Somewhere along the way, Chris....a couple of 6'7" action shots with these basses will be in order. I know, I know, they look like jewelry but it's time for you to get jammin' in a band my friend!!!
