Real wild vote
Real wild vote
Hello all,
here's one more song that was covered by many, "rebel" artists included. Please choose up to two versions that you like the most. Of course, these are not all the versions of the song ever recorded, only those i've found of interest, so if i missed something really interesting, would be glad to hear your suggestions.
Real wild child (Wild one)
Iggy Pop (perhaps the best known version)
Joan Jett
Ivan
Johnny O'Keefe & the Dee Jays (the original)
Jerry Lee Lewis
Cheers,
SC.

Johnny, for his red/orange Hill Clinton suit.
Re: Real wild vote
I'd say Iggy is the wildest tone wise from this group, but my all time favorite version is Brian Setzer's Real Wild Child off of Rockabilly Riot, his Sun Records trib.

Never, ever drool on your surf shirt. It wrecks the solo.

I liked Joan's version the best. Iggy's was too slick and mechanical for my tastes, which was disappointing. I even saved his for last!
Interesting thread -- can you believe I'd never heard this song before?

Re: Real wild vote
I have always liked Iggy's music so he got my vote.

Yeah, I'm with Brian...Iggy's version is the only one I'd like to hear more than once. Having said that, it's pretty hilarious to hear all of these geezers singing the line "I'm just outta school..." Funny, in the same way that hearing a guy in his sixties like Mick singing a line like "You shoulda heard me just around midnight..." is funny.
What, rummaging through the medicine cabinet for some kaopectate? No I shouldn't...and I'm glad I didn't.

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

I like Joan Jett's version, but Iggy's gets the nod from me. Yeah, it's slick and processed, but it rocks...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
