What the heck is Bill playing?
doesn't quite look like a 4005 (pointy horns, headstock wrong).
Re: What the heck is Bill playing?
Looks like a 330. For promos they probably mimed along with whatever they picked up first.....
Eden.

Shaftesbury.
Re: What the heck is Bill playing?
Case you're wondering, Shaftsbury were 60's Japanese knockoffs made for Rose Morris. Think the Stones had a couple, until Brian bought the real del.

Re: What the heck is Bill playing?
I should add that there was a Shaftesbury bass modeled on (or ripped off from) a 330. If you do a Google image search for "Shaftesbury guitar" you'll see some examples.
So everyone was right!

As referenced in this timely thread:
viewtopic.php?f=87&t=404860
which refers to this ebay auction:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Musical-Instrum ... p=10&_sc=1
The ebay listing also says:
"Original Shaftesbury 4005 Rickenbacker Bass. These were sold in the UK by Rose Morris who were the official importers of Rickenbacker in the 60's."

Re: What the heck is Bill playing?
If RIC had made a bass in the 330 shape with the complementary headstock, the bass would prolly still be available, and no one would ever look twice at the top horn. . .

There is no reason to ever be bored.
