POTR compressed roundwounds

I haven't tried them but I have heard a number of good reports regarding these strings.

I currently have D'addario chromes in .011 on the 1997, but I think I may give these a go soon...

What strings did you convert from, and how are POTR compressed strings better on your 360, Steve?

I also have D'Addario 11's on my 370/12 and am curious to know about the POTR set.... I find D'Addarios have a pretty fine jangle, m'self, but I'm always interested in something that may be better...

I don't think they are from Curt Mangan.

I am guessing these POTR sets are from the same manufacturer as the previous RIC Compressed Roundwound 10-42 sets. I believe that RIC is now using and selling Nickel Roundwound 10-46 sets in their place.

Hi, Is this a recent change on RIC's part? I have a 2009 360/12 that has been restrung recently with a set ordered from RIC. I thought there was a difference in the way my guitar sounded (recorded) after the new strings were on (and not just the new vs. old). I was expecting the same sound as the 360 had when I first bought it and that's not what I heard. Sorry if this is a lame question. Tom

I started with Ric compressed roundwounds, then switched to Curtis Mangan nickel wounds from POTR, and used those until last weekend.

I figured no big deal but I did notice some "plink" tuning the G and B strings with the non-compressed, and was having to retune those strings fairly often (and as far as I know, those strings aren't compressed). No plink now .

The compressed roundwounds feel smoother on my fretting fingers and they fit the nut slots better than the Curt Mangans, IMHO.

Guess we'll really find out how they stack up at BARC.

BTW they are .10-.42.

The only times I've played Rics with compressed roundwounds were when trying out new models at Sam Ash. I've been using Curt Mangan Fusion Matched Nickelwound strings (.010-.042) on my 330/12 for about a year (previously D'Addarios) and have had no issues with either tuning or intonation. But I really love the sound and the longevity of the TI Flats I have on my 360/12. They're expensive, but you get what you pay for, IMHO!

I have always enjoyed the compressed round wounds.I suspect the quality of the RIC and POTR sets are comparable. The RIC sets intonate well. Occasionally I find that the strings have a bit of a rough feel to them compared to the flats out there but I am getting wimpy as I age.

I've been using them (POTR's) for quite a while on my 380. Really like the feel and action they give on that guitar.

I like RIC compressed roundwounds, with E = 10, on my RIC 360/12. RIC stopped making and selling these last year.
I also like the compressed wounds, with a E = 12, that came on my 2008 RIC 1996. But, RIC never sold these strings!

J. Hall mentioned last year that they wanted to be more consistant and therefore discontinued all compressed roundwounds. This would only make sense concerning the above E = 12 set shipped on my 2008 RIC 1996, for why would RIC ship guitars with strings that you can't replace and that they dont sell? RIght?

But, POTR nows sells both of the above compressed roundwound sets. I bought several sets of each and they are very close, if not exact, to the above RIC discontinued sets. It's great that POTR has done this!!!
