Effects pedals for Ric 360/12
Gentlemen,
I have now owned my Ric 360/12 for almost a year. Today while playing I had a complaint about my Boss BCB-60 pedal board, due to so far I only have a Korg tuner and a Byrds 2 Janglebox in it. i was in the company of some competetive folks, so I didn't ask what they use.
So, what better place than right here to ask! What pedals do most of you have if you really like the 360/12 sound? I'm not doing it just to fill up space on the board, but would like to get the relevant stuff. I am really not a blues playter, more of a Byrds/Beatles/Hollies style.
Thank you,
Craig

I think the midrange hump of an Ibanez Tube Screamer goes pretty well with a 360/12.
Jangle, Chime & Twang.
Re: Effects pedals for Ric 360/12
If your guitar is in tune well, a nice chorus pedal like an old Boss CE-2 adds a nice touch.

I have a Jangle Box JB-2, an MXR Micro Chorus, and an MXR Micro Flanger on my pedal board.

If you're only doing Byrds/Beatles/Hollies stuff, I'm not sure that you need anything besides a compressor and a light dirt pedal like a Tubescreamer. Chorus is nice but more of an 80's sound than a 60's sound.

I normally switch on the chorus for one or two of my songs that we do. And it's there to provide a change-up from the typical jingle-jangle sound.

Why a pedal at all? Isn't the tone of the Ric 12 why you buy a Ric 12?
Sorry, folks, just my opinion. I am not much of a pedal guy.

Actually, no, my ability dictates doing simpler material. I have recently met a consortium of local musicians. Among them I made an audition in a band. There is a suberb lead guitarist, and he wants to hear me on the Ric, no more acoustic Supertramp type of sound. Perhaps a little more like a Johny Marr tone, but of course not quite as good.If you're only doing Byrds/Beatles/Hollies stuff, I'm not sure that you need anything besides a compressor and a light dirt pedal like a Tubescreamer. Chorus is nice but more of an 80's sound than a 60's sound.
So I don't think that wholesale psychedelic is it, but yes I want to know what suggestions good 360/12 playersa use for what type of material.
I don't want to appear too dumb alongside folks that have the years in on guitar.

Cool! A chorus pedal is maybe the first thing I'll add in the soundboard. And it's there to provide a change-up from the typical jingle-jangle sound
Actually I like the sound of an amplified Guild 12 string acoustic the best. But I know for certain in a good rock band there is demand for someone with a little more guitar savvy than the limitations of strictly acoustic. Why a pedal at all? Isn't the tone of the Ric 12 why you buy a Ric 12?
Everyone lights up as soon as they see the Ric and unanamously say cool! (mapleglow). But I have to admit that playing in a band the guitar sounds like "BR-R-R-R-AAINGG" to me, and my solos sound like loud ringing noise to me at about any volume level.
So I like the aspect of filling an unusual slot in a playing ensemble, not with just another Telecaster or SG guitar. But I need to develop a sweeter sound, and be able to have the applications to do the job with the Ric.
Its all about tone, and how to get there,

I have played on a friends Twin Reverb, I think 100 watt. But so far my only amp at home is a Fender Acoustasonic. I plan to get my own Twin Reverb soon, and am also looking for a nice portable, about 15 watt amp for smaller venues.Craig, what kind of amp are you using, just curious?
It appears to me that the Fender Twin Reverb is a good all purpose amp, in the event that I ever play any guitar other than the 360/12.

Amp first. Maybe you'd like a Roland Jazz Chorus? They have chorus and tremolo effects built in. McGuinn used to use one and Marr too.idealassets wrote:But so far my only amp at home is a Fender Acoustasonic.
That being said, I hate them.
