I think it's perfect now

2008 FG4003 converted 4-2-5. HB1 pickups. 500K push pull pots with proper caps from Dane Wilder. Vintage tone push pull pot. Some filing on the B string saddle to move it back far enough. Perfect straight neck with very low action. Perfect intonation. Ernie Ball Cobalt strings are outstanding. Sounds like a 4004. Sounds like a 4003. Sounds great through all my amps. Thanks Dane.

I got to play my laredo that Dane did a mostly similar wiring harness (no cap mod) through Gareth's huge Trace Eliot rig at BARC,and in the single coil mode,it was sounding pretty similar to a couple of 73 4001's for comparison. I really love the Hb1's,and adding this circuit really gives some nice tonal options. So you have a 4003 which can sound like a 4004,and i have the opposite.

You're welcome Rick! I think you get so much more out of HB1's when they're not stuck in humbucking mode all the time being choked off by the wrong pots and caps.
