The logo is WAY off, but since the bass has obviously been stripped at some point, perhaps the logo went with it too and that was the best they could find. I see no other reason to think it's not the real deal.

Thanks John, I got an email from the owner and he is going to call me after he gets out of work. Any suggestions on what to look for? telltales etc.

If he'd let you: There should be a date stamp at the body end of the neck- you have to take the neck off to see it- should be 0101WWYD (http://home.provide.net/~cfh/fender.html#serial). Date the pots- should be 137-YYWW. The machine heads look period correct. Original pickups should be grey in color- may have a date stamp on the bottom. Good luck.

Hey guys as an update. I opted out, damn conscience got the better of me. :roll:

The boat needs more White Oak (the P bass is Alder, right?) and until the project is done I really shouldn't be looking.
