Odd serial number on my 4001

hi !

i was trying to find out when my 4001 was bulit but the serial seems to bit odd to me. can any of you guys help me with it?

Its a 4001 Jetglo - Serial is "558"

Hi Daniel,

The serial number also includes the two letters that are above the Rick-O-Sound input. The first letter is a code for the year and the second letter is the month. If you go to the Rickenbacker website (http://www.rickenbacker.com/service_serials.asp) you can input the serial number and it will confirm when your bass was made. For example mine has OE 2652 which is May 1975.

The letters above the jackets are more compelling than the numbers below. The letters will tell you date (month and year) if you use the rickenbacker decoder.http://www.rickenbacker.com/service_serials.asp :D

Looks like it could also be DA. Not likely, though.
