James Honeyman Scott should be in that list with his 360/12!

I'd go with Ron's picks except maybe for Pete Townsend. They usually show him windmilling a Gibson. So maybe Susanna Hoffs got a mention??

Do we win a new RIC if we guess the 5??

Okay, contest over. Entrance fee prohibitive!

Tim, you were right on, PT is not on the list. I had them all except Johnny Marr. This is the RS "Rick Players" ranking, if you can believe it:

11 G Harrison
51 J Marr
79 M Campbell
94 P Buck
95 R McGuinn

The overall rankings/photos are here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists ... s-20111123

Jeez, can't RS come up with a proper slide show? Refresh, scroll, refresh, scroll ... too much work to get through their list. :(

Ah!! Johnny Marr!! Kira, I agree. I had to do a bit of work to scroll through 100 to 1. McGuinn being in the 90s is way too far down the list for an innovator like him. He basically invented folk rock. I'd have him in the top 10 ro 20. Anyway, it is always Hendrix #1, Clapton #2 and Jimmy Page #3 followed by a lot of great players not necessarily in the right order. Always a good read, though. I love any story that has to do with the short-lived formation and touring of the Travelling Willburys. 8) 8)

Why do the editors of these guitar magazines always seem to slight Roger? Putting him at the end of the list (and after Peter Buck) is a joke, as several of us noted in a previous thread. He would definitely be in my top 15. And those who are under the mistaken impression that McGuinn doesn't have great chops should try playing the "Eight Miles High" solo sometime. 8)

Considering the tiny (1%?) market share 12-strings occupy, I say he should be happy he's above #99!
