Chixdiggit! Album cover has a 450!

Post by raygunpyle »

I'm new to this forum and way into every kind of Punk Rock subgenre. Although I pretty much love all music (music where instruments are actually played, so maybe I am picky). The Chixdiggit! album cover for "From Scene To Shining Scene" has the guitarist with his heavily stickered 450. It looks like a vintage, although I know these were discontinued in the 80s. I'm not sure how many punk artist are on this forum, but now there are at least one :D

If you feel like listening to some Pop Punk from Canada with a RIC, look these guys up!

Not so much, but I managed my college radio station from 1996-1997, so I definitely remember them. A band that started out as a T-shirt! How cool is that?

I was a summer/winter radio DJ at a local college here when they were on their break. It was the only station around that had a Punk Rock session. I really enjoyed being a college DJ. I was from 2008-2010. I never knew Chixdiggit! was a shirt that first. That's awesome!

Yep, they made the T-shirts and wore them around their high school, so the story goes. Everyone thought it was cool or hilarious, and enough people suggested they start a band based on it so they did.

Cool 450...love 'em! I'm guessing a late '65 -'68 based on the TRC and longer tailpiece. Funny, I "came of age" in Canada in the '90s and never heard of these guys (but their taste in guitars is impeccable all the same  ). I'm a little too old for punk now but the 450/460 models are also really well suited for alt rock, post-punk, etc. IMHO.

I think they're from Calgary. Canada is huge so it's not uncommon to not have heard of them. Cool info on the actual guitar! Feel young again and check em out!
