The saddles on a Rickenbacker bridge are machined to very tight tolerances. This keeps them from rattling. To adjust a saddle forward (towards the headstock), it helps to assist it - This keeps the adjustment screws from backing out. To do this, remove the bridge cover, then remove the string from the saddle slot by pulling it to the side. As you loosen the saddle adjustment screw to move the saddle forward, push on the allen key as you turn. At the same time, apply a bit of force with a finger on your other hand to help push the saddle forward. You want to start setting intonation with your fretted octave note sharp (saddle too far forward). this way, you are tightening the adjustment screw to bring that sharp fretted octave note down to it's proper intonation - the screws won't back out this way.

One other trick I've found is to get a ball end allen key for the the saddle adjustment screws. With one of these, you and make the adjustments with the key at an angle, so that the tailpiece is not in your way.

lol, I dunno what I did right, but after getting everything adjusted (no buzz whatsoever, hurray!...and god I love the low low action of a rick), I have this nice natural vibrato sound coming out of my 620, and a neck shake on a pretty chord after a lil something sounds simply stunning.

I dunno if I did something wrong, but it sure doesn't sound like it lol!

If you've got low action, good playability, proper intonation and no buzzing, you definitely didn't do anything wrong. Glad it worked out for you.

it's the g string especially, it just vibrates sometimes (I must shake the neck just a bit or something on accident), and when I shake on purpose it's amazing...i'm wondering if it's the truss adjustment I made, just making it flat again (it developed a bit of relief)

I was having a problem with my brand new 330 where the G string began to buzz just after I got it home, and this is how I stumbled on this thread.

To get my 330 home it had spent some time in an aircraft hold so I was beginning to get seriously worried that something bad had happened to the neck....

The thought of messing with the truss rods scares the absolute ***** out of me....so I went through this thread carefully and checked everything that was advised.

I checked the neck with a steel rule and thankfully seems to be dead flat (phew)...

My next though was perhaps I need to raise the bridge a tad...however before I did that I spent some time really checking everything I could think out in real detail.....

I finally found that if I put my finger against the head of the saddle adjustment screw when picking the string then the buzz disappeared - take it away and the buzz reappears....

All that was need then was the very slightest of tweaks to the G string saddle adjustment screw using the allen key provided.

Back to sounding great with no buzz at all!

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread especially those who advised to check everything slowly and very carefully!
