420 Advice?
I am currently looking at a 1969 Ric 420; (internet purchase). I owned a late-60's 450-12 many years ago (loved it), so I am familiar with the style/era of guitar, but was wondering if there are any idiosyncrasies of the 420 that I should know about, before laying down my money.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: 420 Advice?
I am interested in some responses here, too; turns out I may have my eye (not sure which one, yet) on a '62 420!
Market values would be nice, too, thanks.
The only idiosyncrasy I can tell from playing this one is the fixed "saddles" of the bridge which would require just the right strings to provide correct intonation, I would think.

Is there any difference between this guitar and the 425?
I've played a reissue 425. Fun little guitar, but a very small body.

One cool sound. SMALL instruments. If I were in the market again, I'd hold out for a 450.

Pass it to the left??? ooops, wrong 420
it's o.k. I can make that joke. I live in Washington where it's legal.

Re: 420 Advice?
If the 420 has the same tone circuit as my single-pickup Ryder 1000, then you may find the tonal range to be a bit limited compared to that of a dual-pickup 450. Of course, the tone can be adjusted at the amp to compensate for this minor limitation.
FWIW, my 1981 460 BG is my main six-string guitar. It has the '60s style headstock and fairly thin neck, features that I love about it!

Re: 420 Advice?
My 420 arrived today . . . and can you believe it, just last night I sprained my right hand - so, now I have this new toy, AND I CAN'T PLAY IT!
I did manage to get it tuned up and clumsily strum a few cords on it - but with my left hand still functioning normally, I was able to easily establish that the neck on this little beauty is fantastic. Slim, but wide - VERY easy to play. The body is light and very comfortable . . . now I remember why I enjoyed my old 1968 450-12 so much.
Should I ever have doubted it?
(Rhetorical Question)
