Jack has been playing a Gibson EB-1 lately.
A BassVI is a bass.

ya it is a bass it is so short and the strings are so close that it looks and feels like a baritone guitar ... except those are tuned differently ...

I played a Jerry Jones baritone guitar once, it was tuned B-B. Lots of fun. I've got a JJ Longhorn BassVI and a Gretsch SynchroBassVI, love 'em. Had a Fender for years, wish I still did.

I remembered reding a while ago that one of Jack Bruces EB3 basses was up for sale on ebay a couple of years ago, the seller being Jacks one time associate Bruce Gary from The Knack.

I managed to trace the article again....scroll down a little way down the page to see it:

Has anyone ever watched the farewell concert from the Albert Hall on DVD?

Jack Bruce plays an EB3 and his playing is incredible!
The actual direction of the concert isn't so hot....all shaky cameras and closeups, but musically it's amazing.
Even Eric Clapton was an exciting player back then!....spurred on by Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker I suppose he couldn't afford to be lacklustre.

If you've never seen the concert and get a chance to I'd highly recommend you do.....and turn the bass up on your telly!

Clapton's sound and playing on Fresh Cream was unbelievable, he was and still is a fantastic guitar player, I guess that's what happens when you become bored and cash in.
I loved JB's sound and playing with the EB-3 and the Marshalls.

A soft fuzzbox would go a long way toward the EB-3 tone, throw in a smidge of fretbuzz and you're there !!!

The wives have given my buddies and I the go-ahead to fly over to London for the concert! That will be some boys night out (from the West Coast of US)! Now if we can get tickets. Any Ideas? Can't wait to visit Abbey Road, Sticky Fingers, maybe drive up to Liverpool, etc. etc.

Jack Bruce in a Box .... Line 6 bass pod ... you still have to have a good bass and a good amp and some good playing skills ...
