There's definitely some variation in paint spray among my BBRs, but nothing anywhere as drastic as this one. For example, my 660/12 (in my avatar) was shot almost more as a transparent blue with just a slight darkening at the edges. I'm assuming that was intentional as its really nicely figured wood and they wanted to highlight that rather than covering it. My 620 builds to pretty much solid blue at the edges - something that would be called a Harrisonglo or clownglo if it were red paint. The 350v63 is somewhere in the middle, but closer to the more solid edge coverage. Even the 620 is nowhere near the color of this 340 and I just don't see this "shiftiness" of color in any of the others. I'm sure the wood can and does play a role, but this certainly seems to be a little different paint. As its my earliest BBR, just not sure if the mix was a little different at first or if this is really one of the 8 "PurpleBursts" (possibly sprayed a little heavier than Ron's).
iPad is an early non-Retina display. Just got my girlfriend the new Air. (Its pretty nice, may have to upgrade mine.). (She doesn't complain when I buy guitars. She actually gets upset if I come home from a show or music store empty handed.
Thanks,
Dan
