4002 Schallers - 180 degree position

Post by jdogric12 »

I snagged a set of these on ebay... the keys could use a re-chroming, it seems. Is that even possible? Only the keys need it, the rest of the tuners seem fine.

Hi Jason

Nice find! It should be possible to get them re-chromed, but whether you need to have that work done might depend upon whether the chrome is actually worn away, or just grimey. My own luthier uses one of these to great effect, as it cleans up tailpieces, pickup covers, bridge saddles, grubby tuning keys, jackplate, etc. His using it has saved me quite a bit of money on re-chroming and cleaning up the parts of my old Ricks in general. :)
