Re: NGD Ric 360 Neck relief
Just got back from a tech, apparently the 2nd fret is too high and the buzz is coming from behind the string. The buzz did sound odd, not like a regular fret buzz. Hopefully they'll fix it and thanks for all the help hotzenplotz

Re: NGD Ric 360 Neck relief
I went to pickup the guitar at the shop today and my excitement was palpable. I opened the case so excited and.....still buzz. Worse, even. They told me it was set up to "factory specs" and there was nothing else they could do. So I go to bother the best tech around (I didn't go to him first as he has a backlog of setups into september) and he told me that the third fret is way too low and the guitar needs a fret level.
So my options at this point are:
A. Contact rickenbacker and see if they'll do anything about it. This probably involves sending it back which will cost me a ton in shipping and possibly months of waiting
B. Bring it to the nearest (reputable) rick dealer and see if rick can comp me for the fret level.
I think I'm pretty screwed here either way, boys
Anyone have any experience with the rickenbacker warranty that would like to chip in?

Yes, it is sad, indeed.
But: it is only a bad fret!
So, to talk to Rickenbacker is a good decision for the next step.
I am sure You do not have to wait too long for an answer. After that You have got more informations and You can decide about the repair (by a luthier or a RIC warranty repair).

Re: NGD Ric 360 Neck relief
From what I've researched, Rickenbacker does not allow anyone to do warranty work in their place. So I gotta send it to them or pay for a fret level and after dropping 2 grand on a guitar my wallet can't support another $200. Good news, however, is that the Rickenbacker supposedly pays for shipping there and back. People are quoting turnaround at about a month (for refinishing, which I would imagine takes a lot longer than a fret level) which I might just might be able to handle
.
Thanks hotz for making me not feel like I'm talking into a vaccum.

You are welcome!
- And in one month You will only laugh about this actual "puzzlement".

Just got it back. They were on vacation so I wasn't able to send it in until july 14th, but they fixed it within days of receiving it which was significantly faster than I expected. I almost couldn't believe it when I played and the buzz was gone!
Once again, thanks hotz for all the help.
