String Sets for a 4003S5

Post by libratune »

Looking for recommendations for a set of strings for a 4003S5. Preferably rounds (and lower tension is better).

Thanks.

I used to use Ernie Ball Super Slinkeys on my 5er.

I use the D'Addario EXL-170-5 set. a B string that is lighter than .130 is too floppy for me. You most likely will have to file the nut slot to properly fit most B strings, as the nut was filed for the original .115 string, if it hasn't been done already.

I found the 115 to be a little think for my tastes and the 130 to be to big... So I Goldilocks for the 125...

I switched from Rotosounds to D'addarios early this year. For the last few weeks I've been playing my new Shergold doubleneck which has Newtones on it. Then I picked up the Rick Rutherford doubleneck (which I had put D'adds on) and it felt horrible! I'm not saying get Newtones in particular, just not to settle for "good enough" cheap-ish D'addarios like I apparently had been unwittingly doing.
