New Bass Day!
I'm allotted one a year, and here's this year's model:
1978 4001 MG.
Clean and correct.
Love me some aged Maple-Glo!
1978 4001 MG.
Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

Very nice! My first Ric was a '78 Mapleglo 4001. Bought it new in the summer of '78 just after graduating from high school. I loved that bass. The neck was thin and fast. Enjoy your latest addition.

My first was a 77 mapleglo, bought it at E. U. Wurlitzers in Boston brand new in 1977, it's long gone due to the cap unbeknownst to me.MaplegloMatt wrote:Very nice! Re: New Bass Day!
Thanks to all. I've been playing it the last couple of days and loving every growl, belch, and snarl.
Action's nice and low and intonation pretty much spot-on.
Was going to give it the Scratch X / Zymol / Dr. Stringfellow treatment, but it cleaned up nicely with basic guitar polish.
I'm thinking new round-wounds is all it really needs ... any thoughts as to what kind?

Thanks Ted. I'm bringing it to the Mouradians in a couple weeks so they can "give it some love".
