I have owned a Ric 360/12 since 2011 and do not play it as much as planned. I use my acoustic 6 & 12 string's for almost everything.

I have carefully stored it tuned down, but am wondering in general if the 12 strings and even basses need neck resets in time. and what is the best approach to keep the original geometry long term?

Additionally how about for hollow body guitars such as Gretsch, Duesenberg, or Gibson ES-335? Whats best to do to keep it in the best condition. I keep all my guitars with Planet Waves Humidpaks, and with a room humidifier at about 45%.

I'm asking based on many acoustic guitars that I have seen, which have had some horrible solutions to the neck and guitar top warpage that is utterly horrible. In most cases I believe that this condition could have been prevented, or at least minimized.

However I have no knowledge about electric guitars and basses, and do plan to get a ric 4003 bass and possibly a Gretsch or similar guitar sometime soon.

Another important aspect is how the "as-is' condition of any new, demo, or used guitar. Often certain guitars have amazing sound and action, but others are noticeably lesser in quality. Is this a function of the build of each particular guitar, and/or the care each guitar has received?

The 360/12 is designed to remain at pitch. Tuning down is not only unnecessary but may do more harm than good.

Thanks for the reply. I will most likely take my 360/12 to the nearest Ric dealer about 2 hours drive away, and have them look at it for set up and anything else. It is a great looking guitar and I got it for a great price about 4 years ago.
