First Ric '04 330 Monty. Need advice on frets

Post by jzerza »

So I wasn't planning on buying guitar today, but came across a total deal at a local pawn shop. A 2004 330 in Montezuma Brown. I have a good number of high end guitars and am very familiar with cleaning and setup, but the Ric puzzles me a bit. I really want to polish the frets and there is a small amount of green corrosion on some of the fret ends. What are some good "safe" ways to take care of this? The lacquered fretboard scares me. Also looks like a little dried wax left along some of the frets on the actual fretboard... The rest of the guitar is minty.
I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow in some daylight. This thing is beautiful, but tough to photograph. Comes out looking red/fireglow like, but there is no red in this one. Just brown to maple.

Thanks,
Jeff

Bursts are not easy to photograph well/properly. Have you tried reducing the saturation of the images?

I had the same thing with my 325v63 that I sold in November. It was always there when I purchased it in 2000, but never bothered to try to remedy since it never got any worse. Curious to hear if anyone else had that happen to their instruments

Don't try to take the green off the frets. They are lacquered over. Unless it really bothers you.

Ok. Sorry it took so long. Here's a few pics of it. I absolutely love this guitar! Not sure if it's allowed as I'm new here, but can I ask what the value of this guitar may be? I need to add to my insurance and I can't find much info about about this color/model... Is it really that rare? I think I really got it at a steal, so I don't want to go off what I paid.

Had to post links "hope it works" since it said I had to many pixels and I have no clue how to adjust that.
