Rickenbacker Neck Profiles
I have a 2005 660/12. I love the sound and I need the sound for the project I am in but the neck is horrible. I know I am not the first person on this forum to have a problem with the Rick neck profiles. The nut width is too narrow and the frets are too small. With my big hands it is extremely difficult to play. I've been playing 32 years and have 16 guitars in my personal collection and I own a guitar store and the Rick is by far the most brutal guitar to play. The guitar is torturous in every way. But again, the sound is top notch and I need that it. I was told that a 620/12 would be easier to play and that the neck profile is wider but I've seen people post in this forum that actually the 660/12 is the easiest to play and has the widest profile. According to the Rickenbacker website the nut width on all of the Rick is the same at 41.4 mm (1.63''). I am 100% confused. What is the real deal? I've agreed to trade my 660/12 and another cheap guitar for a brand new 620/12 on Monday. But now I am not sure it is the right move. I want the widest neck possible. Does anyone here have insight or maybe own both guitars that can't help point me in the right direction?
Re: Rickenbacker Neck Profiles
Someone has things backwards. A 660/12 has a wide neck/nut, the 620/12 is the one with the narrower nut. Can you post photos so we can ID what you really have? Can you describe the feature set of the guitar you have?steev11 wrote:I have a 2005 660/12. I love the sound and I need the sound for the project I am in but the neck is horrible. Re: Rickenbacker Neck Profiles
Yeah, check again on the RIC site. 660s are 44.5mm/1.75" at the nut.
