Here is a recording of my old '04 4003FL using just the bridge toaster pickup.

For what it's worth, I usually play with the tone full out on both pickups, with the neck volume rolled back a little. I haven't worked much with the pull out knob on the treble pickup much until recently when I found that doing so truly enhances the fretless sound. A new sonic world, yet again!
