Jetglo 610

Post by eduardcor »

Hi, I don´t know nothing about Rickenbaker, and I recently bought a Jetglo 610 6 string from a friend from Canada, he get it on a local web page like ebay but in Canada. Right after he got the guitar, he went to a music instruments store to try find out if the guitar was a copy, or replica, or find anything wrong, well, the people from the store told him than the guitar was very rare and have no much info, but seems like a real rickenbacker, and maybe is from 1993-1998, but they notice the lack of a serial number in the input jack. Well, after their inspection the conclusion was: "I think is a real rickenbacker, but, if this is a fake one, is the best I've ever seen".

I'm playing this guitar on a Vox AC30 and sound extremly great, and I want to know, what I'm holding in my hands. Well, I'm lookin for some info, already search the model on google but I can´t find some good info about it. And finally i found ths forum. I need some help, tips to find out if its a real rickenbaker, where is the serial number?, history, hints, anything is helpfull for me.

Thanks a lot.

It look like real rickenbaker to me to. If the serial number not on the output jack, it might be written in the control cavity.

I have the same guitar - a Jetglo 610.

Mine was made in January 91 (A4 3725). Have a look at the jackplate where the guitar plugs in. That is where you will find the serial number. It still amazes me how many music stores don't know where to look for a RIC serial number.

I keep going back and forth from the black trim it was when built to white trim which to my eye looks nicer.

They are the non deluxe version of the 620.

About the only famous person to ever use one was Ron Nasty of the Rutles.

Rickenbacker made the 615 guitars from 1962 to 1974 (which had the Accent vibrato as stock hardware). The modern version - the 610 - have the larger headstock, R-tail piece and the Schaller tuners. They were made from 1986 to 1996.

Enjoy your new guitar!

Thank you for the info. But there is no serial number In the jackplate, thats make me think that it was changed for some reason, I hope.

I will check the control cavity tonight. I'll tell you if found something.

Thks.

Great guitar! Looks real. Not terribly rare, but not as many made as the similar, but more fancy, 620. Great playing guitars with a great sound. These solid-body Rickenbackers stil have the "Rickenbacker Sound," but to me the solid maple body adds a slightly different dimension to the sound. Enjoy your new purchase!
