Don't forget another factor in identifing a fake-PLYWOOD. I used to own a Hondo Ric copy, and I hacked it up for parts. (That's all it was good for.) After I was finished, all I had was a neck and a body. I sold it back to the store for only 5 bucks. One day later, someone I knew saw it, and actually thought it was a real Ric!!! So, he bought it for $10. After talking to him on the phone, he told me about it. I told him, "Three strikes;you're out. 1) When's the last time you saw a perfectly good Ric stripped down, 2) It's a bolt-on, not neck-thru, and 3) The body is Plywood!! Rickenbacker would never use that junk." After a moment of silence, I figured his face turned red.

My AZTEC Stage Bass is a Rickenbacker copy and has a neck thru body and very good wood. It sounds very nice. I would like to know who manufactured it.
