Strap lock Question

Post by bowser2533 »

On my Ric 360 my strap lock, the piece that threads into the body of the guitar has become stripped. It will no longer tighten up snug. Anyone out there know a good fix for this problem. Thanks Gary

To be clear, the metal "lock" that goes into the guitar body itself has stripped and is not longer holding firm with the wood, or the metal lock in the guitar body is stripped and no longer connects with the plug on the strap?

If the threads in the body are still there but the straploc is loose, John Hall says to put a couple of drops of water in the hole & screw the straploc back in. The wood should swell & you should be able to tighten it up.

The only sure fix for this problem is to dowel the hole, then use a standard Schaller strap peg with a wood screw. I drill these out to take larger wood screws. I've had to do this to all my Ricks since the front dtrap pegs started loosening up all the time.
