81 lefty 4001s. With a set neck. How rare is this bass.

Set neck was the norm for the 4001S and the 4000 from '72 to the early 80s. By default, all lefties are rare as they make so few of them. I think the most valuable aspect of your instrument is its condition! Looks nearly mint, and for a 40 year old instrument, that's really something!

Thanks. I got your book. Great book. It is mint. Plays amazing. Something about the growl of a set neck. I’ve owned quite a few Ricks. Neck thru. These def sound different

I have a set neck 4000 . Happened right after I bought Paul’s book .
