My dad Bobby Richards wrote “There are eight million Cossacks and this is one of them” for his mother, Dusia Richards who his father Robin rescued at the beginning of the Russian revolution in 1917. She was a Cossack living in Guryev. My grandfather, a British businessman, was aiding in blowing up oil fields.

We grew up in Wallington. We had The Seekers, The Searchers, Wings and John Barry come over to our house many times. I was only 7 in 1963 but I do remember having to be quiet when the groups came to work with my dad.

My dad worked with John Barry on the Bond movies, Born Free, and many other notable films.

My brother David Richards RIP, produced and engineered Queen, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Duran Duran to name a few.
