I use it lightly.....sometimes...

It IS a pain to engage and disengage...

I never use it. I just alter my technique to get whatever muted effect I am after.

Try playing with your fingers and muting with your palm.

I used to mute, uh... the official explanation was I palm-muted. It was actually, was actually someone else's palm. It's not... It's ugly. You know. There's no real... You know they can't prove whose palm it was... they don't have the facilities at Scotland Yard...

It gets kinda' crazy to palm mute for a whole set of beatles tunes, that's why I use the thing. Just makes more sense to use it. Hey, maybe that's what it's for? Image

I use it every show. During our second set I use my Ric 4001SLH, and it's backup, my 4003LH is tuned with mute on. I swap out for the "mute" songs.
