TJ Hughes in years gone by as plan for flats given the greenlight
"Proposals to transform Audley House on London Road have been approved"
Department store TJ Hughes has sat at the heart of Liverpool's city centre for almost 100 years. Moving to its current location in 1925, it has been a familiar fixture on London Road, welcoming millions of shoppers through its doors for near 10 decades. In the 1950s, TJ Hughes is where my mother would drag me off to before the start of a new academic year to have me fitted out in a new school uniform, and is where I was bought my first pair of long grey-flannel trousers.
