This is the only Beefheart track I’ve ever liked, but I really love it. The Ric bass helps, obviously, but the vibe is great. And the guitar solo is reminiscent of Gilmour’s solo on Another Brick In The Wall, to my ears, except it came several years earlier. I believe these were disparagingly referred to as The Tragic Band, but this is such a great performance. Personally I’ll take this over The Magic Band anytime (no offence to those who wouldn’t!
