Happy New Year to you as well, Gene.
My 4001V63 is from 1993, which is another of the favorite years of many for this model.
I can't say enough great things about mine. It gets high praised by anyone who plays it or just hears it.
Playing it here, strung with D'Addario Chromes ECB84 flatwounds in a British Invasion Tribute band.

I had a V63 from around 1999 IIRC. Nice bass, but the neck was far too big for me. Ones prior to maybe 1997/98 (? more correct long headstock is the giveaway) have much nicer necks IMO. FWIW the necks on the 2 x CSs I’ve owned (‘91 and ‘96) have been glorious.

The neck on my V63 was virtually identical to those on the two '73 4001s I had (March and July). This was verified from measuring their girth (remember when we were doing that?).

The neck on my ‘99 (think it was a ‘99, certainly the shorter headstock) was the biggest Rick neck I’ve owned by some margin. The same has gone for all the shorter headstock V63s I’ve played. Rick being Rick though, I’m sure they’re potentially all over the place. 😉

Thanks Shaun!

After all the Ricks I've had through the years, this is the last one standing!

I had a '92 4001v63 I sold for $800 in '96 at a music shop in Hollywood and I remember the guy saying "why are you selling this??" (I needed the cash).

One of the worst decisions of my life.
