Circus of Heaven/YES (from the album Tormato) bass by Cara.

<br>

Very difficult song, if nothing else just not to clam hitting all those notes all over the neck. The quiet part was very challenging too, even using isolation of the bass, very hard to hear and figure out what Squire was doing. This is one of the toughest songs I've tried yet, very proud of this! Took several days of intense rehearsal to get it after we figured it out (Dad really had to assist me on this one).

Doesn't the embed code work anymore? I looked at it and it seems to use a very old flash player code to display youtube, which of course would not work in modern browsers. Is there any other way to embed videos?

How to Play Bass on All the Songs on Queen's Classic LP Night at the Opera
https://youtu.be/YNbuF655AnQ

Hi! I'm Cara, I'm in the 7th grade and I've been playing bass for about 2 years.
Here's My Story:
I started making videos seriously when I got my Rickenbacker 4003S FireGlo in March of 2025. One of the first songs I learned by ear and recorded was Long Away by Queen from the LP Day at the Races.

But I soon started playing songs from all the Queen albums, among other bands, I didn't just play Queen, but Queen and Beatles and Jellyfish have always been my favorites. Over the Summer I found I had played all the songs off NATO except Prophet's Song (very difficult!), Sweet Lady (somewhat difficult) and God Save the Queen (no bass, had to write my own part). So, I finished up the remaining songs and put a playlist together: http://tinyurl.com/cararickopera

Then this week it occurred to me to make a video stringing them all together. Now, I'm going to get flagged to death but let's see if I get away with it. I play every song on the LP, near to note for note as my ear can get it. The early ones Dad helped me out, but later, using Moises.ai to isolate the bass if needed and VLC to slow the track down, I figured them out by myself. Hope you like them!

No. Title Writer Length
1. Death on Two Legs Freddie Mercury 0:26 Paws/Apr 25
2. Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon Mercury 3:29 Mickey D/May 25

Here are 2 NWOBHM rockers by the fantastic band Angelwitch.

These are real straight forward songs nothing hard here just have to keep chugging.
One Angelwitch song that isnt so basic is Baphomet may do that one soon.

My Yes covers:
Long Distance Runaround/YES bass play along by Cara YES (Chris Squire on bass) bass play along by Cara on Rickenbacker w/ pick w/ Rotosound Roundwounds!
https://youtu.be/YitFET2VLpg
Interesting song to master, so many licks and diverse parts it's easy to lose focus and hit a clam, I kind of squilched that first slide in to the high A but overall not bad! I'm beginning to really get Chris Squire now and it feels like a real move up from the Beatles/Queen stuff I was doing!Written by lead singer Jon Anderson, the song was released as a B-side to "Roundabout", but became a surprise hit in its own right as a staple of album-oriented rock radio. On Fragile it segues into "The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)".

Going For the One/Yes bass play along by Cara.

This one is a monster. I think this may be my favorite Yes song I've played.
I never even would have attempted it 4 months ago before I got my Rickenbacker, but since I keep saying Chris Squire is one of my fav bass players I figured I better do one, and not ROUNDABOUT which everyone and their gramma does a video of on Youtube- I wanted to do an original one that wasn't so common and wow it's a great song! Such odd timing of the phrases and I really started to understand Squire's fills on this one!

Yours is No Disgrace/Yes bass play along by Cara
https://youtu.be/qcXy3q8iB0Q
Check it out at 2:40 I really start to get the Chris Squire CLANK I love that more than any bass sound!
This was a challenging song, lots of cool walks. Anyway I really love Chris Squire's style. I might do a couple more, the problem is they are too long and no one will sit through, I cut off half of this one, it was 10 minutes I cut it to 4:40 which most of you probably still won't last through 😛

I just found this thread. I've seen your Youtube videos. I had that feeling it might be you when I read your thread about finding an output jack nut. Keep up the great bass playing. Looking forward to more videos. 8)

Thanks. It doesn't seem very busy place, but I'll throw one up now and then.
Here's my latest:
Number of the Beast/Iron Maiden bass by Cara
https://youtu.be/tWz0rp2VndQ
I removed the original bass

This is another one my Dads band did when they played covers however they attempted it with an early lineup and couldnt pull it off though they did play it live in the old keg party days but Dad says it wasnt up to standards. It wasnt until Dave Smith joined on drums Curt Smith on guitar and my Dad took over bass from being co lead guitarist that they could actually play it decently. My Dad played bass and sang lead on this, something Im not quite ready to try.

This one was tough, lots of licks, some very fast and complex licks, a lot of it just very fast thumping. Took a couple days to get it. Hope you like it!

well, thanks but I get no views, no likes no comments so really it isn't worth my time to post here. The Youtube display is broken, there's something wrong with the code if you use hyphen or certain other characters it renders everything around it to dddddddddddddddddddddd. So thank you I'll probably only post if I have a question about Rickenbackers.

I just listened to your Penny Lane cover and you did a nice job. Note for note. The fact that you have a 4003S Fireglo Rickenbacker bass certainly adds to the appeal. Thanks for sharing Cara.

Cara: Good work on Call Me the Breeze, one of my favourite J J Cale compositions. Very McCartney-like in your phrasing.
