Psychedelic Furs

Post by brianb »

The Furs played here in Portland last Saturday and my friend's band opened for them. I let him borrow my Shadow and the Steve Cooper/ Rath Azureglo. Tim Butler told me he "needed" to have the Shadow but we all agreed the Azureglo sounded better.
I hope Tim Butler records some of their new songs using a Ric.
Greg ..a forumite here.. did a great job with the sound at the Roseland.

I saw the furs in 1984, but I did not know anything about guitars then and don't recall them using rics. I do remember though in '83 seeing Mitch Easter of Let's Active on a video on MTV "The Cutting Edge" that I thought was way cool.

I saw them last summer some time -great show. No rics thoughImage The Guitarist was using a PRS and Tim had a f&ender or a musicman.

I also saw them in 1984, don't remember seeing any Rics, although I was pretty far back from the stage. It was a good show, though; love Richard Butler's voice!

I love 80's music, it's good to see some of these bands going out again.

Hey Brian, It was nice to finally meet someone in person, from the forum here. The Ric sounded great, until the cord failed. I was having a little trouble figuring out what was going on out there, but then realized the lead to the bass was having issues, at which point I grabbed a spare lead from our inventory, walked out on stage during the set, and replaced it :-). Had a nice talk with Tim, about your basses. Long time since Iv'e seen a Blackstar in the fleash.
The Furs, used a PRS and a Fender P bass. Didnt sound as good as the Ric..IMHO :-)

Nice to meet you too Greg. Man you got up on stage and fixed that problem in a blink of an eye. If you're doing the sound tonight for Drummatica I'll probably bump into you.
Cheers!
